Employer branding for technical companies without a marketing budget

You don't need to buy a campaign to be attractive to technicians. The strongest signals mostly cost attention.

Big names attract technical talent with campaigns and job events. As an SME or production company you won't win that race with budget, and you don't need to. Technicians rarely choose a brand; they choose work that fascinates, colleagues who are decent and an employer who keeps their word. Exactly that you can make visible.

Start with your own people. A technician telling at a birthday party that your place is good to work at convinces more than any advertisement. Actively ask satisfied employees whether they know candidates, and put something in return. A good referral programme is the cheapest recruitment engine there is.

Make your work visible as it really is. A short video of the workshop, a photo of the project the team is proud of, a vacancy text that names the machine park concretely: that attracts the right people. Slick stock photos and hollow slogans do the opposite; technicians smell fake from afar.

And don't forget the application experience itself. Answering fast, giving honest feedback, keeping agreements, also with candidates who don't make it: it determines what's said about you in WhatsApp groups and on shop floors. In a small technical labour market that story always comes back, to your advantage or your disadvantage.
