Certificates that really pay off for technical profiles

Trainings and certificates cost time and sometimes money. So the question is fair: which ones really make you more attractive to employers? Based on what we see daily in vacancy requirements, they fall into three categories.

The first category is safety. A VCA certificate is simply an entry condition at many industrial employers and on sites; without it you don't get in. For those wanting to grow towards safety, a level 3 or 2 prevention advisor certificate is a logical and sought-after next step.

The second is electrical competence. Employers increasingly ask for demonstrable competence for working on electrical installations. Related trainings around switching and measuring in low and high voltage also appear explicitly in vacancies, especially in maintenance and utilities.

The third category is technology-specific: think PLC trainings, cooling technology certification or welding certificates. These pay off most when they match the direction you want to go. A cooling certificate makes little sense if your heart is in automation.

So don't pick the certificate that happens to pass by, but reason from your next job: which requirement keeps returning in the vacancies that appeal to you? That certificate first. And remember that many employers have training budget; asking about certification paths in the interview immediately shows the drive employers look for.
