Mechanical Engineer R&D Machine Development
For a family-owned manufacturer near Mechelen that develops and builds its own production machines, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer R&D. You design and realise new machines, mechanisms and constructions, from functional need to working solution on the shop floor. In Mechelen you work closely with automation engineering, maintenance and production. You don't just draw: you also calculate, test and realise your designs yourself.
What you'll do
- Design and develop new machines, mechanisms and mechanical constructions
- Work concepts out into 3D models in SolidWorks, with calculations, production drawings and bills of materials
- Choose materials, drives and components based on functionality, safety and manufacturability
- Provide technical guidance for prototypes, tests, assembly and commissioning
- Implement structural mechanical improvements to existing production machines
- Collaborate with internal teams and external machine builders
- Document design choices, changes and test results clearly
What you bring
- Bachelor or master in mechanics or electromechanics, or equivalent through experience
- Proven experience designing machines or mechanical constructions independently
- Fluent in SolidWorks, mechanics, materials, tolerances and production processes
- You can not only draw designs, but also calculate, assess, test and realise them
- Creative, structured and focused on practical, workable solutions
- You consult easily with colleagues from different technical disciplines
