Mechelen, Antwerp Permanent · Full-time€3,800 – €5,400 gross per monthPosted on 2 November 2026

For a family-owned manufacturer near Mechelen that sells its products worldwide and builds a large part of its own machines, we're looking for a Technical Manager. You lead the Technical Operations & Quality department: the technical service, engineering and quality, directly or through key people. You report to the operations director and take maintenance from reactive to planned work. In Mechelen you build a structured technical organisation that brings production, engineering and quality together.

What you'll do

  • Build a clear technical organisation with well-defined roles and expectations, and let people grow in autonomy and ownership
  • Professionalise maintenance: preventive maintenance per machine group, structured corrective maintenance, breakdown logging and critical spare parts
  • Manage the reliability of the machine park as strategic capital and draw up a roadmap for upgrades, retrofits, rebuilds or replacement
  • Keep one overview of technical projects, maintenance, improvement and quality actions, with clear owners, scope, timing and capacity
  • Translate the needs of production, product management and quality into technical priorities, and follow up machine modifications and external partners
  • Steer quality through the quality supervisor: inspections, deviation management, audits, complaints and CAPA with root cause analysis
  • Guarantee machine safety and compliance in maintenance, projects and new developments

What you bring

  • A technically mature leader who brings people, maintenance, engineering and quality together
  • An engineering degree is not required: a bachelor in electromechanics, a technical bachelor or equivalent through experience is enough
  • Experience in a technical production environment and in maintenance management, technical operations, project leadership, machine building or quality systems
  • You take a technical department from reactive to planned work, set priorities and communicate clearly with the shop floor, the directors and management

What you get

  • A key role with real impact on production, engineering, quality and future machine development
  • Strong in-house technical expertise and an extensive machine park
  • Collaboration with production, quality, automation, engineering, purchasing, product management and the directors
  • The chance to build a more structured technical organisation
