Shift systems

Day hours (day shift)

A day role follows a classic schedule, usually between 7 am and 6 pm, without shifts or nights. In technical work day roles are sought after: they pay no premiums, but offer a rhythm that fits family and social life.

Which technical jobs run on day hours?

More than you'd think: project work and engineering, installation and assembly, client service, work preparation and planning, quality and prevention roles, and maintenance on sites without continuous production. Even shift-based companies have day teams for planned maintenance, overhauls and projects.

The trade-off versus shifts

A day role pays no shift premium, so gross pay looks lower than shift colleagues'. In return: normal evenings and weekends, easier combination with childcare, training or a side activity, and often less long-term wear on your health. Many technicians run shifts for some years for the money and then deliberately move to days.

Where to find them

Technical day roles fill quickly, precisely because demand is high. On our job board you recognise them by the contract type without a shift mention, and we explicitly state in the offer when a role is a day job without shifts. Also set a job alert: you'll hear immediately when a new one appears.

Frequently asked questions

Do day hours always pay less than shifts?

At the same role level usually yes, since premiums disappear. But day roles like project leadership, service engineering or prevention often sit higher in the scales or offer a company car, so the total package can exceed an operator wage with premiums. Compare packages, not just gross pay.

Can I move from shifts to a day role?

Yes, and it is a classic career path: operators and technicians grow into work preparation, planning, project work or team leadership on days. Certificates and training earned in shifts speed up the switch. Our role profiles show the growth paths per role.
