People who keep installations running are rarely found on a job board: good maintenance technicians move through their network or because someone approaches them directly. AltusConnect does the latter for production sites, data centres, installers and maintenance contractors. We look for maintenance, service, HVAC and refrigeration technicians and electromechanics.
According to VDAB, the industrial electromechanic is among the ten largest bottleneck professions in Flanders. The industrial maintenance technician, the refrigeration technician and the installation technician are on the list too, each time because there are too few candidates and too few with the right experience. The intake from technical education does not keep up with demand.
How we approach technicians
We approach technicians who work on comparable installations today, within a workable radius of your site or your customers. First we cover the practical side: shifts, distance, type of installations and what is left net. Only when that fits do we present your vacancy, and certificates such as the one for refrigeration are checked beforehand.
What technicians weigh heavily
A clear shift system, modern installations with spare parts in stock and an employer that takes preventive maintenance seriously. For field service technicians, a well-equipped van, a region without hours of traffic and a fairly paid on-call rota count as well.
The question. A process operator is a bottleneck profession: those who can do it already work somewhere in shifts and rarely apply actively. Waiting for a fitting application would have left this vacancy open for months.
What we did. We approached the right people ourselves: operators who were not looking but were open to a conversation. One of them was interested in the site and the shift system, and we guided that conversation step by step.
The result. A placement with the client, with a candidate no job board would have surfaced.

Technical manager with a very specific profile
The question. The role combined requirements that rarely come together. The client was receiving profiles from all sides that looked right on paper but fell through in every interview. That cost time and trust.
What we did. A thorough intake, down to the installations and the management style, followed by strict screening. We only introduced candidates we had interviewed at length ourselves and who matched every hard requirement.
The result. Fewer profiles than the client was used to, but the right ones: the role is filled and the stream of unsuitable CVs has stopped.

Because most good technicians already work somewhere, with a settled team and shift premiums, and are not actively looking. A vacancy mainly reaches those who already want to leave. We also approach the others, and for this profile that makes the difference.
Do you also look for recently graduated technicians?
Yes, especially for electromechanics. This profile rarely relocates for a job, so we search in the region of your site and include school leavers with internship experience and technicians from related trades who want to grow.
Is a refrigeration technician the same as an HVAC technician?
Not quite. A refrigeration technician needs a legal certificate and experience with several refrigerants; an HVAC technician works more broadly on heating, ventilation and controls. HVAC technicians with a refrigeration grounding can make the step, and we include them in the search.
Do you recruit technicians for shift work?
Yes. We discuss the shift system and what it yields net in the first conversation with the candidate, so there are no surprises at the offer stage. Anyone who does not want shifts drops out early instead of after your interview.
