Recruitment agency by specialism

Technical sales and sales engineer recruitment agency

You do not sell a technical product with a generalist salesperson, and an engineer without commercial drive closes no deals. AltusConnect searches for sales engineers, technical account managers, area sales managers and application engineers who master both worlds. We work for manufacturers and distributors of machines and components, system integrators and technical service companies.

Why this profile is hard to find

VDAB lists the sales engineer as a bottleneck profession for a qualitative reason: candidates lack the right mix of experience and training. There are salespeople and there are engineers, but people who can explain a solution technically and close the deal are rare. Those who can manage a customer portfolio and seldom look openly for something else.

How we search for technical sales profiles

We start from your product family and your customer segment. That brings in people who sell to the same customers today, but also engineers who work with those customers daily and want to grow commercially. In the interview we test both sides: can someone explain your technology, and have they closed a sales cycle before?

What a sales engineer weighs before moving

A product they can stand behind, a region that is workable and variable pay that stays transparent instead of changing rules every year. A company car comes as standard with this role.

From practice

How it goes in practice

Chemicals, Antwerp region

Process operator for a chemicals company

The question. A process operator is a bottleneck profession: those who can do it already work somewhere in shifts and rarely apply actively. Waiting for a fitting application would have left this vacancy open for months.

What we did. We approached the right people ourselves: operators who were not looking but were open to a conversation. One of them was interested in the site and the shift system, and we guided that conversation step by step.

The result. A placement with the client, with a candidate no job board would have surfaced.

Food, Brussels region

Technical manager with a very specific profile

The question. The role combined requirements that rarely come together. The client was receiving profiles from all sides that looked right on paper but fell through in every interview. That cost time and trust.

What we did. A thorough intake, down to the installations and the management style, followed by strict screening. We only introduced candidates we had interviewed at length ourselves and who matched every hard requirement.

The result. Fewer profiles than the client was used to, but the right ones: the role is filled and the stream of unsuitable CVs has stopped.

Real assignments, anonymised. We name no clients and no figures that are not ours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a sales engineer and an account manager?

A sales engineer starts from the technology and translates the customer's question into a solution, often with calculations or a tailored quote. A technical account manager mainly manages the relationship and revenue with existing customers. During the intake we decide together which of the two you really need.

Can a technician grow into technical sales?

Often, yes, and we include those candidates on purpose. A service technician or engineer who already knows your customers has a head start on the technical side; we test the commercial side in the interview.

Do you also recruit sales staff for HVAC and installation companies?

Yes. Installation companies, HVAC specialists and distributors of building solutions are among the companies we find technical sales profiles for. Which assignments are open today is shown in the list of vacancies on this page.

Do you share sales engineers' CVs without their consent?

No. A profile only reaches you once the candidate has explicitly agreed. For technical sales people that matters even more, because their current customers and employer often know them personally.
