This is how the end-of-year premium works in PC 209 (metal, white-collar), according to the sector agreement.
How much is the premium?
Differs per province: a thirteenth month or 8.33% of your annual gross salary
Conditions and payment
- In PC 209 provincial collective agreements govern the end-of-year premium. They apply to staff whose function is or can be placed on the pay scale.
- Flemish Brabant, Walloon Brabant and Brussels: 8.33% of your annual gross salary, after at least one year of service at the end of the reference period (1 December to 30 November), payable in December. On leaving you get a pro rata if you have one year of seniority, except for dismissal for serious cause.
- Antwerp and Limburg: a thirteenth month of 100% of a monthly salary after one year of seniority; the reference period runs from 1 December to 30 November.
- East and West Flanders: a thirteenth month; you must be employed on 30 November and, working full-time, have actually worked 60 days in the reference period. The Waasland area has its own agreement, also with a thirteenth month.
- Hainaut, Namur, Liège and Luxembourg: a minimum provincial premium of 2.36% of the gross wages in the reference period.

Why do I keep so little net of my end-of-year premium?
Because after 13.07% social security the withholding tax for exceptional remuneration is deducted, which is higher than the withholding on your ordinary pay.
