Worked example on the minimum wage

  • Two shifts: €1.875 extra, €20.622 in total
  • Three shifts: €1.875 extra, €20.622 in total

Nuances from the agreement

  • Agreement of 12 June 2014 (indefinite period): for work in successive shifts only the time of day you work counts, not the name of the shift. Hours between 06:00 and 14:00 and between 14:00 and 22:00 are paid at 110% of the wage, hours between 22:00 and 06:00 at 125%.
  • If you work in three successive shifts, each shift gets a half-hour meal break paid at the normal wage.
  • Outside shift work too, hours between 22:00 and 06:00 are paid at 125%, with a paid half-hour meal break. For works depending on the tides, such as dikes and breakwaters, hours between 06:00 and 07:00 and between 18:00 and 22:00 are paid at 115%.
  • The percentages apply to your wage; construction indexes every quarter, so the premium amount moves with your hourly wage.
